Aharon Charnov
I am both an artist and an educator. I hold an MFA in Film and Animation from the Rochester Institute of Technology and I have over ten years' experience working in the 3D animation industry as well as in teaching at some of the best 3D animation programs in the world.
I have worked in a diverse number of positions, creating digital content both as a solo artist and as a member of a production team. Primarily, I have done texturing work.
I spent several years as a texture artist at the Jim Henson Company where I textured and lit hundreds of models, props, sets and characters for dozens of shots on the Emmy-nominated children's show "Sid the Science Kid." While there I also created marketing materials for Sid and worked on the "Wilson and Ditch," web series as well.
Additionally I did pre-viz work for the Pixel Liberation Front. While there, I took on several challenging assignments that called on me to script, match-move and composite props and pre-viz animation onto live action plates. I worked on "The Incredible Hulk" and "Terminator Salvation."
I have also done quite a lot of solo work. As the owner of Chartoonz.com, a full service design and animation business, I gained extensive experience in creating a wide range of digital content for print, broadcast, iphone/ipad/ipod apps, the web and video. My work includes animations for Goldratt Consulting, Sabella Dern, Ogmento and many others.
I worked on the Paranormal Activity: Sanctuary" iphone game and all design work on the National Kidney Foundation's "Manage CVD Risk" iphone/ipod app. Both apps are now up on itunes.
I also teach computer animation as well. I taught 3D Animation, Modeling, Character Rigging, Texturing and Lighting for 3 years at RIT. I taught rigging and animation for 1 year at the Pratt Art Institute and I have also taught at the New York Film Academy and Touro College.
